Start or Join a Neighborhood Food Hub

Food Commune lets you team up with others to directly access food producers you can trust. Independent farmers, fisherman, ranchers and other food producers are eager to sell food in bulk quantities.

If you group your purchases with others, you can get wholesale prices on your groceries without having to stock up in large quantities yourself.

The Food Commune website is being developed to give you the tools to either join existing buying groups or start your own. The website will be both a communication hub and directory of bulk food deals offered by food producers and wholesalers.

Consumer buying groups are like mini community food hubs where food is brought in and then shared among a select group of members. Neighborhood food hubs eliminate the cost of warehousing and distribution because bulk shipments are split up in someone's home, garage, church, office or other end-user facility.

When our programming work is complete, Food Commune provides the social networking and bulk order facilitation services for free. Our goal is also to provide quick and easy access to thousands of food producers who are willing to sell to buying groups in bulk quantities.

Soon, you will be able to join groups in your neighborhood or workplace (or start groups on your own). In the meantime, we are providing free access to food producers that are able to ship to or allow pickup in the Pacific Northwest. You may begin buying in bulk and sharing with your friends, neighbors and work associates at anytime. However, the process of communication will become much easier soon.
